Sanjukta Parashar, a 2006-batch IPS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, was appointed to lead the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) to strengthen CRPF leadership in high-stakes operational environments. Known as the Iron Lady of Assam for her counter-insurgency record, she succeeded 1996-batch officer Danesh Rana. Her appointment is part of a broader CRPF initiative to place women officers in top operational and combat-heavy command roles. The CoBRA unit currently oversees critical security operations, including counter-insurgency missions in the Northeast and the deployment of battalions in Manipur to address ongoing ethnic tensions.
