AN Pramod
Vice Admiral AN Pramod assumed charge as the new Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff on August 1, 2026.
The Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff (DCNS) is a critical three-star officer position within the Indian Navy's hierarchy at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi. Vice Admiral AN Pramod succeeded Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti, who superannuated on July 31, 2026, after a distinguished career. Previously serving as the Director General of Naval Operations, Vice Admiral Pramod played a vital role in overseeing operational readiness during the West Asia crisis. This appointment is part of the ongoing senior-level transitions within the Indian defense forces to ensure strategic continuity.
Appointment Date: August 1, 2026
Predecessor: Vice Admiral Tarun Sobti
Previous Role: Director General of Naval Operations (Dec 2023 - July 2026)
Awards: Recipient of Ati Vishisht Seva Medal (2024) and Yudh Seva Medal (2025)
B is correct тАФ Vice Admiral AN Pramod took charge as the Deputy Chief of the Naval Staff effective from August 1, 2026.
Remember that the DCNS is a Principal Staff Officer (PSO) reporting to the Chief of the Naval Staff; linking this to the rank of 'Vice Admiral' helps distinguish it from lower-level staff appointments.
