INS Nipun is part of the Nistar-class of Diving Support Vessels built to bolster the Indian Navy's underwater capabilities. It was constructed indigenously by Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) under the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The vessel is designed to perform critical tasks including deep-sea diving, underwater intervention, and submarine rescue operations. Its induction signifies a major step in enhancing India's maritime sovereignty and technological self-reliance in specialized ship construction.
