The Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards are the highest national recognition for adventure sports in India, equivalent in status to the Arjuna Awards. The 2024 awards ceremony recognizes outstanding contributions across the categories of land adventure, water adventure, and lifetime achievement. These awards aim to promote a culture of adventure, risk-taking, and physical resilience among the youth. President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to present these honours at Rashtrapati Bhavan, coinciding with the National Sports Awards 2025 ceremony.
The awards are named after Tenzing Norgay, a Nepali-Indian Sherpa mountaineer who, along with Edmund Hillary, was the first individual to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 1953. The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports administers these awards annually to encourage achievements in fields such as mountaineering, skydiving, and water sports.
