Transpiration
Evaporation
Condensation
Transpiration
Transpiration is the biological process where water absorbed by plant roots is transported through the xylem to the leaves and subsequently released into the atmosphere as water vapor through stomata. It is a critical component of the hydrological cycle, representing the primary pathway by which moisture moves from the soil-plant system into the atmosphere.

E=KтЛЕ(esтАЛтИТeaтАЛ) тАФ where E is transpiration rate, K is a coefficient, and (esтАЛтИТeaтАЛ) is the vapor pressure deficit.
TpтАЛ=f(I,T,u,RH) тАФ functional dependency of transpiration on solar intensity, temperature, wind speed, and relative humidity.
The mechanism is driven by the water potential gradient between the soil, the plant, and the atmosphere. Solar radiation causes evaporation at the leaf surface, creating a negative pressure (transpiration pull) in the xylem that draws water upward from the roots according to the Cohesion-Tension Theory.
Transpiration is a passive process that consumes nearly 99% of the water absorbed by plants.
It contributes significantly to the 'Evapotranspiration' (ET) term in the water balance equation.
Factors increasing transpiration: High temperature, low humidity, high wind speed, and high solar radiation.
The process provides a cooling effect for the plant tissue.
Regulates plant temperature via evaporative cooling.
Facilitates the absorption and translocation of mineral nutrients from soil to leaves.
Causes significant water loss, often leading to plant stress under drought conditions.
Limits biomass production when soil moisture becomes the limiting factor for plant growth.
Estimation of irrigation requirements in agricultural engineering.
Calculation of regional water balance and watershed yield.
Plant physiology research for drought-resistant crop development.
Precipitation refers to liquid or solid water falling from the atmosphere to Earth.
Evaporation is the phase change of liquid water to vapor from open water surfaces or soil.
Condensation is the phase change of water vapor to liquid water, the opposite of evaporation.
B is correct тАФ Transpiration is the specific term used for the loss of water from plants to the atmosphere in vapor form.
In Hydrology exams, always distinguish between 'Potential Evapotranspiration' (PET) and 'Actual Evapotranspiration' (AET) based on moisture availability.
